In due respect, the BEST candidate of Covid issues is ROBERT F. KENNEDY, JR! He is not only still in the race, he has the BEST "favorability" rating than Biden or Trump. We all simply need to help him get on the ballot in as many states as possible. He knows the science behind Covid more than any other candidate...and he plans to change the federal regulatory agencies so that they are not "captured" by the corporations that they are supposed to regulate!

Perhaps true on Covid, but further left than tolerable on economic issues.

The government couldn't (or wouldn't) get much bigger with him as president IMO. He'd sincerely try to nuke these captured Science Agencies, which would save millions of lives in the future. RFK, Jr. now gets the illegal immigrant problem and I actually think he acknowledges that the "Green New Deal" is a ruse for the same organizations he's been fighting (which are only trying to obtain even more power.)

There's a reason the Establishment fears RFK, Jr - and the "fix is in" on keeping him away from the White House too (read Matt Taibbi's viral piece from today).

Besides DeSantis he's one of the heroes of the covid response. His book about Fauci was excellent. My issue with hm is that he wants to play nice with cruel people like Biden, Hotez and most Dems and Big Pharma. None of this had to happen.

I don’t think it is really about playing nice. He does want to bring back civil discourse, but has huge disagreements with the people that you just mentioned. He is trying to unite the citizens on policies that could benefit all of us, particularly rebuilding the middle class. But I believe he is correct and trying to tone down the vitriol that divides us, so the people themselves can focus on solutions that benefit us, not the big corporations or the oligarchs. be sure to listen at length to RFK himself on podcasts, etc. both the Dems and the Republicans are twisting some of his ideas because both sides are afraid of his broad appeal.

The problem with RFK is that he naively thinks these institutions are reformable. DeSantis understood that they should be abolished.

What? You want to get RID of the regulatory agencies? NO! Just get rid of the influence that the Big Corporations have on these regulatory agencies. If you get rid of the regulatory agencies, that will allow the Big Corporations to go wild. PLEASE wake up and get real!

Yeah, my favorite was the CDC changing the definition of vaccine and vaccinated in Sept. 2021 when it became obvious the clot shot didn't stop transmission. They just changed the definition, that's it. Or when they tried to order landlords to lose money on their properties. Bizarre.

Agreed! DeSantis was very strong on following the realscience, not the Fauci fake-science. Equally faithful to the truth has been RFK Jr. If you want to see more COVID style nonsense, you should vote for Trump or Biden.

I disagree. A covid reckoning doesn't need to come from the federal government (and was unlikely to ever come from them, IMO). Florida can blow the thing open just as easily as Washington DC. Once the dam breaks, the public will demand more and more information.

Heck, the reckoning might kick off in a small European country that still has to answer to its constituents. The poison is the same all over the world.....

Agreed. The way the federal government has been acting for the last decade, they’re not going to do jack. DeSantis should do everything he can from Florida to spread the word. He needs to focus on promoting and helping doctors research remedies for vaccine injuries. That, in my mind, if the covid narrative trajectory continues on its current path, would solidify him as 2028 president.

Yep. There will come a day when the political winds have shifted far enough that going after the covid perpetrators will be an advantage. (After a few of the paid-off pharma shills are ousted) Once that happens, the early adopters will be rewarded the most. DeSantis is in a perfect position to do just that.

You say: "One reason for the Republican reluctance to revisit the Covid era might be that many voters feel conflicted over their early support for lockdowns."

Here is my take: Most people (Republicans and Democrats) are reluctant to revisit the Covid era, and especially the Covid vaccines, because they feel either foolish for having taken the vaccines themselves or guilty for having persuaded/bullied others to do the same.

I am also afraid that because Trump has never publicly, said that he regretted the lockdowns, and the damage that they did, or has ever come out and talked about how horrifically dangerous and destructive the vaccines are, that many Republicans do not want to tarnish Trump by directly confronting these issues. Just like the Democrats, their main objective is to stay in power. Down with the Uniparty. RFK, 2024!

DeSantis was NOT the last hope! Nor the best hope, as a Republican. Bobby Kennedy's two books - The Real Anthony Fauci and The Wuhan Cover-Up are must reads for anyone concerned about the "pandemic" and the responses. He is intimately familiar and would take action as President.

It is high time to break up the stranglehold of the 2-party system; they pretend to be different on smaller divisive issues, but are in lockstep when it comes the greater ones, unlimited spending, ever-wars and authoritarianism. STOP registering as a "Republican" or a "Democrat"! Be Independent and vote for the best candidate . . which in 2024 is Bobby Kennedy.

Steve, I.hesitate on RFK.Jr. because of economics. This country is effectively bankrupt. The executive and legislative branches continue to spend (like drunken sailors) money we.don't have so must print. I don't see any candidate addressing this, and no one but Nikki Haley will.even mention the impending bankruptcy of Social Security and Medicare. And I cannot support Ms. Haley, who I consider a neo-con. And Trump encouraged and welcomed the vaccines, and the first stimulus, which.started the inflation. Guess I have no one.to.vote for.

Susan, I urge you to read Bobby's books before you despair. He is well aware of the bloated and out-of-control agencies and will do something about them. We have spent $8 trillion on wars in recent history. The pandemic, lockdowns and vaccines have demolished our middle class, well at the same time creating 500 new billionaires in the last few years. If we stop spending ridiculous amounts of money on proxy wars, and spending ridiculous amounts of taxpayer money and handing it to big Pharma and big tech and the military contractors, our whole economy would be different. We could actually improve the lives of our citizens, and not just the 1%. RFK speaks about this at length. He will not waste your tax dollars.

Ignoring Bobby Kennedy, who has promised to do exactly what you want in terms of a covid reckoning, seems a bit misguided. First, there is no such thing as a "last hope" of anything. That's only if we allow it. "Best hope" would've sufficed, the hyperbole is unnecessary, discourages pursuit of the truth.

And I'll bypass the disagreement that lies in assertions that a "vaccine" for the elderly was necessary, helpful and therefor should've been made a priority for them. You and I both know the arguments, no need to rehash here.

What I will take issue with here is this line:

"In 2021, following evidence that vaccination did not prevent Covid transmission and so did not provide a public benefit to others besides the recipient, DeSantis rejected the coercive idea of vaccine mandates and passports. "

The underlying assumption that the coercive idea of vaccine mandates and passports were desirable as public policy in the first place was fatally flawed. Literally and figuratively. That it was only *after* evidence that vaccination did not prevent Covid transmission and did not provide a public benefit must be rejected out of hand if there would or could ever be a real reckoning of failed and destructive pandemic public policy. The shifting of burden of proof for freedom, free choice, informed consent to be respected from those who take away constitution and God-given rights to those who seek to reclaim them is an affront to humanity and repugnant to the Constitution. And an arrogant claim of the superiority of man's technology to God's design and intentions for his greatest creation. It nullified all evidence and scientific knowledge acquired over centuries that natural immunity, the product of God's design, is infinitely superior than any elixir man could conjure up.

As if the same health "experts" who stood by and demanded all wearing placebo masks and locking down society could prevent the spread of respiratory illness, flying in the face of all previous known science and public health pandemic plans pre-2020 peddling fictions that novel mRNA technology with known limitations and inadequacies and the ineffectiveness of all previous attempts to provide immunity and protection against coronaviruses was somehow, miraculously, magically "100% safe and effective" and flimsy short-term studies with controlled, preplanned narratives as transparently bogus as the mask efficacy study narratives, promulgated by same exact "expert" that justified the loss of freedom, free choice, informed consent, constitutional and God-given rights in the first place was NEVER justified. The burden of proof was on public authorities to justify their usurpation of power and take away the sovereignty that we all must have over our own bodies.

We NEVER should have been in a position where we needed to provide evidence that we were entitled to our freedom in the first place. And to give Gov. DeSantis credit because he waited to "follow evidence" that we should have some freedoms (he and Florida still haven't returned to pre-2020 public health policy re: vaccines, ignores the fundamental flaw in allowing them to be taken away in the first place.

The burden of proof for such interventions that take away choice and freedom MUST be on those attempting to do so. No "emergency' exception. Especially not a politicized, controversial, widely disputed emergency with a history of lies and deceptions behind it, from phony PCR testing protocols, overemphasis on "case" counts that had no correlation with mortality, unscientific mask, social distancing and mask mandates to the most comprehensive state-sponsored and mandated propaganda and censorship operation even deployed to maintain The Illusion Of Consensus that an emergency existed that would warrant authoritarian control and cessation of constitutional rights to protect public health.

All just dismissed with a "in 2021, following evidence...DeSantis rejected the coercive idea of vaccine mandates and passports" as if he bravely stood as a bulwark against those attacking our constitution and God!?!?

Yes, I give him credit for finally acknowledging the mistaken public policy of coercive vaccine mandates. But you'd think he'd have known that earlier, at the moment of inception, given his belated recognition that the lockdowns and masks had been mistaken. And led the resistance against them at the start, forcing the proponents of mandates and passports to prove beyond a reasonable doubt - the standard used in criminal trials to take away the freedom of those accused of crimes - that non-criminals could be subjected to to lose their constitutional and God-given freedom.

That sentence, Jay Bhattacharya, written as an accolade and claimed as an accomplishment fails in so many ways you either didn't consider, or don't believe are important, imagining "public health" mandates serve a vital role in health emergencies that must be immediately deferred to, whether or not they are based in sound science that's been fully examined and debated. If that's your and Gov. DeSantis's standard for all health emergencies then neither of you understand freedom as our Constitution ensures it and God demands it. Sounds like you both need a paradigm shift in how you view citizens their relationship with government. We are not subjects. We are equals. Those in positions of authority serve us by adherence to the Constitution. Informed by men of faith in their creator as the supreme being, not any man. Respecting no single religion of the state. Especially not the religion of Scientism. I encourage you to learn, grow, and more fully appreciate the ideas I share, that pre-2020 weren't very controversial or disputed.

While that is true, even the handful of vaccines back, then could conceivably cause SIDS. It’s the fact that the amount of babies dying has increased with the expansion of the vaccine schedule. Which by the way, is now up to 90 vaccines. Japan found that by simply delaying the MMR vaccine, their SIDS rate declined. During the worst part of the covid lockdowns, the one group that seem to have a declining mortality rate was infants, and a very young children. They were missing their vaccines! Admittedly, also less people were driving, so there was less chance for young children to die in car accidents. But missing or delaying the vaccines was probably helpful to that age group.
