Even among sceptics, many people say, "The shots are still valuable to the elderly; they prevent deaths." Plenty of smart people, including scientists and doctors, also dispute this "settled science."

It is not a question of whether the vaccines were good for a certain sub-group of people. It is a question of whether the vaccines were properly tested and prescribed for that sub-group (and that sub-group only). As a matter of fact, in the clinical trial of Pfizer, the elderly and the sick people were excluded. So the vaccines should not have been recommended for them at all unless they consented to becoming guines pigs.
More genrally, if you throw ten things at the wall, one of them might stick. If you prescribe a drug or vaccine for 300 million people, 10-20% of them may benefit. But you can't claim that as a legitimate benefit unless you are willing to compensate the remaining 80-90% for the harm and inconvenience caused to them.

It is a question of whether the vaccines were properly tested and prescribed for that sub-group (and that sub-group only). As a matter of fact, in the clinical trial of Pfizer, the elderly and the sick people were excluded. So the vaccines should not have been recommended for them at all unless they consented to becoming guines pigs.
More genrally, if you throw ten things at the wall, one of them might stick. If you prescribe a drug or vaccine for 300 million people, 10-20% of them may benefit. But you can't claim that as a legitimate benefit unless you are willing to compensate the remaining 80-90% for the harm and inconvenience caused to them.
Inaccurate info to say 'godsend to the elderly at risk.' They are even more vulnerable to the adverse effects. The real godsend antivirals were denied to the elderly. They were also not advised to do nasal washes which are highly effective in preventing the infection. So, your post is partially accurate, and the promotion of the shots to the elderly will continue to do them harm, putting them at increased risk of fast growing cancer, heart damage, brain damage, autoimmunity, increased risk of contracting covid etc....
