MD, my grandfather was a midwestern doctor born in 1895, and a midwestern doctor's son. But unlike his dad he went into medical research. A friend and colleague of his isolated vitamin K and three estrogens, and Grandpa always spoke of him with admiration. Grandpa loved science.
So one time I asked him, "What do you think was the greatest medical development you experienced in your lifetime?". He didn't have to think long. "Window screens", he answered. "Cut down on disease transmission just dramatically. All the flies, you know."
when I saw you had interviewed Midwestern Doctor, I was so happy, hoping to finally see, or may be just hear, what he looks and or sounds like... oh well. May be, one day, when the sky has cleared, we will know who the people are behind the pseudonyms... thank you nevertheless. Always interesting to read his insights.
I promise the other interviews on here with the other guests will be ones where you can see the speaker. Rav has a great lineup scheduled and just made a special exception for me due to my extenuating circumstances.
Illusion of Consensus is the tool of PR firms working to change the mindset for profit! TR. Niacin became very popular prior to the introduction of Merck’s statin drug Around 1990. Suddenly, all the newspapers picked up on the article that time release niacin causes liver cancer. Source of the study was a small 10 man study at the VA center in St. Louis Missouri. They did not identify if the test subjects had liver damage from alcohol, which is common with senior veterans. It’s amazing that the study was widely broadcast 90 days before Merck launched their drug! In the meantime, all the physicians were primed to write a prescription!
Creating the Covid crisis was the finest example of the illusion of consensus! TR Niacin Disappeared from retail shelves, never to be seen again!
As for "consensus" in science, it's blatant BS, or should be. It's a good thing that propaganda has to be geared to snare the lowest common denominator.
You may notice that ideologies and organizations that make claims of "consensus" rarely have an actual mechanism for establishing and publishing it. Take science for example.
I tried to look up Niacin TR (? time release ?) but, thanks to you , found this,
“Nicotinic acid (niacin) is a well-established treatment for dyslipidaemia – an important cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factor. However, niacin may also reduce blood pressure (BP), which is another important CVD risk factor."
Does nicotinic acid (niacin) lower blood pressure?
Bottom line. TR Niacin is cheap and is not profitable for the statin drug manufacturers. Research to prove benefit is lacking because the $ spent would not return a profit.
As a holistic nutritionist that focuses on endogenous root causes for what medical doctors call mental health disorders, and believes that statins and most other meds are a scam, its refreshing to hear from MDs who are like-minded since so few are. Now if we can just convince the masses to stop believing so many myths that their MDs tell them such as they have a chemical imbalance or that cholesterol is dangerous.
I'm watching a great video presentation by James Davies, Phd, currently on how the DSM diagnostic material was created by votes, not science.
Totally agree! And my health has improved immensely in the last 4 years, unlike so many other people, in large part by following Midwestern Doctor and other physicians, scientists and researchers brave enough to speak out!
I'm a reader rather than a listener. I hope you will consider putting out a text version of all your podcasts, even an imperfect AI generated translation of voice to text. All the best.
I share the same believes and finding as Midwestern Doctor...based on my own research the last few decades. It is crystal clear now that most of the research in the fields of virology and immunology is severely flawed if not flat out fraudulent. There is a great body of evidence that HIV can't cause AIDS, there are documented cases of people with AIDS who never tested positive for HIV. Yet for years, all research, directed and funded by Fauci and NIH, had to be on HIV. 5 years into covid-19 we still don't know what was killing people but at least some of the scientists admitted deaths attributed to virus alone were grossly overstated. In 2020 we knew most of people who died had at least 2.6 comorbidity factors. People were denied ivermectin and hcq, some of the safest drugs around. Some people died from secondary bacterial infections...the whole picture is so distorted from the lack of good data. It is time for medical researchers, FDA, CDC to take a hard look at themselves and how things were mishandled...but I am not holding my breath, we are at the mercy of big pharma and $$$
This conversation suggests a crying need to assemble top thinkers and practitioners in the alternative medicine field to create a "better way" forward in health care. It is painfully obvious that the current system is flawed at best, dysfunctional or falling apart at worst. Yet are there some bright and thoughtful individuals in the field, who, not being part of the mainstream, rarely contribute to shaping the direction health care is going. Imagine if we could get some of the leading thinkers and practitioners together on a regular basis to develop pathways forward for treating disease. The main obstacle to getting this done is the stranglehold big Pharma has on health care. Having an effective health care system would relegate pharmaceuticals to a secondary role. In addition, better health for the population would be a bad investment for the health care industry, as it would reduce earnings, and put many out of business. This and other conundrums badly need to be addressed, and people who are not just hamsters on a wheel, but have thoughtful and insightful understandings of health and healing have much to contribute to creating better healthcare system for our society. I encourage all involved to conceive of a way we can create a think tank such as that World Council for Health has begun to create in searching for the "better way".
FYI, this is the first time I am trying out the mobile app function of "text to voice" so that I can listen to this while doing other things, and it actually works perfectly well. I recommend giving it a try if you haven't already.
So happy this was in written format. I rarely get the opportunity to listen or watch podcasts, but at night have an opportunity to read. Thank you, M.D.! You are so easy to read.
This is a great conversation on so many levels! So I'm a psychotherapist, but also a spiritual Counsellor. I don't see how I could be helpful otherwise. I have also trained in psychedelic assisted therapy. Every thing said here, I can corroborate.

His or hers…we really don’t know

Thanks for that.

Right, I got that since it's an easy to understand concept, but what is the "TR"?
Also, I found the part regarding BP was amazing. Never heard any of that before.
Time Release so you don’t have flush which regular niacin gives you.

I’ve learned massive amounts of info about how to think about medical issues from Midwestern DR.

This Substack is like having an Uncle who is a Doctor. Thank you for that, Blessings.

Need leadership that has not been compromised by Big Pharma and the money men! Tall order!
Roger McFillin is a psychotherapist on a mission to stop pharma drugging kids with pscyche pills. www.thecollective.org
Great interview with the Sidney doc.
Altogether wonderful. Thank you.
Great post. Thanks.

The app crashes sometimes I hope you don’t have this issue often.
Fortunately I haven't experienced that. Today it read aloud this whole article without issue.
Only crashes when you try to open it. I been able to use it while driving I listen to the podcast with no issues (yet)
Please consider interviewing Dr. Iain Mcgilchrist.

"Humility." What a concept! And thank you for hosting the well-grounded Midwestern Doc.
More please...

Is there a way to contact you re: psychedelic assisted therapy?
Certainly, however I'm in London, UK.
