In my state, the president of the pediatricians organization said that Covid was one of the "Top 8" causes of death for children. Sometime you hear, "Top 10" cause of death. I tried to find any source that listed children's "Top 10 causes of death" and couldn't find anything definitive. In the first year of Covid, did three children die from Covid in Alabama? (I can't find definitive statistics on the actual number of children's deaths either ... but I think it must be between 0 and 10.) Would three deaths from Covid get this category into the "Top 8 causes" of death for children in Alabama in a year? Somehow, I doubt it.
"Children's deaths" would be all deaths between ages 0 and 18. Also, I learned from my research into children's deaths that a disproportionate number of these alleged "Covid deaths" in the nation occurred in newborns - most of whom were probably premature births - which is the highest category of children's deaths by far. Most ages over 1, you don't see ANY deaths listed "from Covid."
In short, I think this is one of the most brazen of all the Covid lies - this idea that Covid is a threat to children and is one of the Top 8 or Top 10 causes of death. Any help debunking these claims would be appreciated since I've long wanted to write a Substack article calling out this lie ... or how silly this statistic is. Even if "three deaths" makes the "Top 10" is that really something for parents to stress out over given the fact there are millions of children in the country and our state?
Thanks, Kelley. So if you divided accidents into three categories, Covid deaths would be No. 11 - not in the Top 10. Also, as you reference, infant deaths (0 to 5 months) are about 20 percent of Children's Covid deaths. So how high would Covid rank if those weren't included. What's the top 10 deaths of children age 1 to 17 (toddlers through 12th grade)?
And the Covid deaths are massively inflated. I'd say Covid might be in the Top 20, with fewer than 200 deaths in the first year of the official pandemic (and those would be very questionable). A UK study I wrote about said six "Healthy" children in the entire UK died from Covid. Six out of 12 million!
I'm so glad that people are out there still talking about this. Not to mention through this podcast I'm learning about all kinds of people who were out there. I knew of some like Jay and Vinay and Ioannidis, but I'd never heard of Kelley. Perhaps because I'm based out of Canada where false statements were made on a regular basis.
HELLO RAV AND JAY. Can you tell Substack that your posts are NOT coming up on the APP. All my other subscriptions come on the app as well as the email except yours. I do get emails but nothing on the app. Thank you.
I'm pretty moved by Jay's humility - here he is, an esteemed epidemiologist with two advanced degrees, at a prestigious institution, etc, asking a layperson (albeit a very sharp one) to explain basic concepts he obviously understands well, to the audience.
Listened to this with my wife and it precipitated an interesting conversation on why it is that citizen scientists are getting so much attention these days, and why the anointed 'expert' class seems to have forgotten (if we're being generous) concepts that, supposedly, form the bedrock of their training.
Dr Jay, this is an excellent podcast interview, thank you for putting it on. Kelley says throughout, she is a "numbers person".
You may want to be talking to more of us numbers people as we are often skeptical, curious and
educated enough to view the world through numbers and accounting, which is what numbers people do and how they think. Catherine Fitts stated people who view the world through the lens of numbers and finance immediately saw holes in the entire "covid-19" narrative. One such number worthy of attention would be the 2019-2020 disappearance of 56 million worldwide cases of influenza A&B, only to be replaced by "covid-19".

I have written extensively on that study on my Substack, and was actually responsible for getting the original pre-print of it rewritten. Here's my response to the published version of the paper: https://checkyourwork.kelleykga.com/p/revisiting-covid-is-a-leading-cause

Here's the link to my article that shows children mortality in UK for healthy children was 0.000 percent in first 12 months of the pandemic.

This interview with Kelly is so refreshing; so sane in an insane world.
