Did you listen to Dave's discussion with Coleman? I think Coleman showed Dave where his arguments weren't correct or fell short without pulling an authority card.
I've been so busy with moving to Network School in Malaysia that I haven't been able to find 4 hours to listen to it all carefully which is necessary. Unlike other pods, you can't workout or do the dishes IMO. I've seen the first hour. Gonna set some time aside to watch the rest later this week.
You must definitely watch it, not just listen. I did, and then kept stopping to rewind and watch certain moments. (There is something I noticed in CH’s behaviour which struck me as rather odd/off. I don’t want to mention it; would like to see if you notice it too. In any case I also need to watch CH episodes to see if it’s a thing he always does. Don’t mean to be mysterious, just don’t want to sway you! Will come back to this…).
Tweets Where Dave Smith Dismisses or Insults Others
Based on a comprehensive search of Dave Smith’s recent X posts (focusing on the past year up to November 17, 2025), he routinely employs insults like “clown,” “stupid,” “dumb,” “retard,” “fraud,” “hack,” “moron,” “bitch,” “fuck,” and “neocon monster” to critique politicians, commentators, and public figures. His rhetoric is unapologetically combative, often targeting neocons, media personalities, and those he views as warmongers or intellectually dishonest. Below is a curated list of notable examples (sorted chronologically, most recent first). These represent a sample of 30+ relevant posts; full threads and contexts are available via the post IDs for deeper review. I’ve highlighted the key insult(s) in bold for clarity.

not entirely based on this clip if i'm honest, just my opinions of the two men. But Daves appearance on Trigonometry recently was a sight to behold. Painful watching. He calls the entirety of gaza a 'concentration camp', when it has 5 star hotels. Tell me, where were those hospitality amenities back in the nazi camps? Or did they just miss them? All he ever does is make appeals to emotion over evidence.
Smith repeatedly used an analogy comparing Israeli military operations to a civilian taking justice into their own hands and killing bystanders - theres endless issues with Dave Smith that would be too tiresome to list here. I dont hate the man, but he is as sanctimonious as one can get. He refuses to cede ground often, even when his arguments are proven false right in front of his eyes from his own sources.
The parallel you draw beween the Ezra Klein debate and what's happening now is spot on. That same 'watering dangerous ideas' framework gets weaponized depending on whose politics are at stake. The credentials argument is such obvious special pleading when somone defends Sam Harris on Islam but then dismisses Dave on Israel policy. Either substance matters or it dosn't.
Murray is an #IsraelFirst apologists. He's correct on his diagnosis of the threat of Islam but he either wilfully ignores the threats that Israel's leadership pose or he's somehow been brainwashed to them.
It is fair to say that Israel has a right to defend itself. It is also fair to say that they have led the US into conflicts/wars that should never have happened. It is reasonable to say Israel has gone a bit too far in Gaza. Douglas Murray is not objective when it comes to Israel. Dave Smith is not objective when it comes to Israel. Both are smart men but neither seems to have nuanced position and Murray comes off as pompous, thinking he is smarter than anyone else. I find that Dave is a little more self-effacing but equally stubborn in his position.
When I see a click bait term like "slam," I conclude - rightly or wrongly - that this is not a thinking person's post. Maybe that is unfair but my time is limited so I have decided to only follow/read/listen to podcasters or substackers that bring intelligent discussion to the table. I would advise you to consider listening to the Triggernometry podcast with Dave Smith to see how it's done. I know you are young and I believe you have promise, so this is just a word of advice you can take or leave.
Well, I watched the entire Rogan video with Smith and Murray. Murray was exceptionally charitable toward Smith's complete lack of knowledge of the basics of the history of the region. Smith kept falling back to "babies are being slaughtered" (appeal to emotion logical fallacy) while bringing no receipts for that assertion, other than the Gaza Health Ministry (i.e., Hamas). It was an embarrassment for Smith in terms of the use of fallacies in that conversation. Murray both knows the history of the region and has done on-the-ground journalism there. Watch the whole thing again, would be my recommendation. No logically minded person can watch that and conclude that Smith had a better argument.

I’m so glad Dave & yourself are breaking down these points/behaviours. I’ve been experiencing the same issues in conversations about P/I. 🙏🏽
Murray is utterly brilliant, dave smith is the antithesis
Is there anything you substantively disagree with him on the debates surrounding misinformation and expertise from our 3-hour pod?
In this particular clip we're talking about Douglas resorting to ad hominem woke tactics of "you're watering" bigotry which he would normally oppose.
Do you plan to address Dave's repeated ad hominem attacks he slings on the regular? Or just Murrays?
Examples? I'll send him anything legit you got

Dave smith is a moronic, try hard, wannabe intellectual. Don't side with him. He should stick to his uninspired comedy

Rav, it's exceptionally bad form for you to take sides in the disputes between Murray and Smith.
I'm not taking sides just for the sake of it. I'm just seeing some obvious fallacies and holes in Douglas' view on who an Expert is and isn't...
And by the way, here's a link for Dave Smith - maybe he'll reconsider his advocacy for the Palestinain cause. https://evebarlow.substack.com/p/a-helluva-town?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=704503&post_id=179478022&utm_campaign=email-post-title&isFreemail=true&r=pfpwo&triedRedirect=true&utm_medium=email
